SHOWROOM ASSISTANT

Hi, I’m Jo! I’m the Showroom Assistant at Baraka Gems. I started my jewelry journey a few years ago by learning the basics of jewelry design and metalsmithing, but I’ve been a fan of all things shiny since I was a kid. I’ve lived in the Pacific Northwest all my life, and love digging through streams and beaches for agates or other rocks I can polish in my rock tumbler. I’m drawn to jewelry by the hands-on aspect and intentionality behind each and every piece. Jewelry is one of the oldest art forms, and one I’m honored to learn and continue both professionally and in my own hobby creations. Each piece has history, emotion, and beauty wrapped up within it, from a brand-new custom to a refurbished antique, and I’m thrilled to see each and every one. I’m new to professional jewelry but I’m excited and thankful to be here at Baraka, on a team seeking to change both the industry and the world for the better. When I’m not at work, you can find me reading, working on my novel, drawing, and spending time with my partner, my friends, and my cat, Nova.
